Update - April 29, 2020

Reminder:  WVSD is transitioning to online learning platforms on May 4th.  The current  enrichment/review packets will not be provided after May 1st, due to the changing format for learning.  Teachers will be sharing learning experiences through a platform that will allow the student to interact online, unlike the static documents that needed to be printed.  ***If you have technology questions, please contact the WVSD technology department at or call 717-647-2167 x1400 and leave a message.  Student registration information will be distributed via email on April 30th. Students in grades 7-12 should be sure to check their email and their own STUDENT Skyward account for messages and communications from teachers. Elementary school parents should be sure to check their email accounts on file with the school for registration information.

Williams Valley Parents and Guardians,

Williams Valley Families,

On April 15, 2020, Pennsylvania Secretary of Education, Pedro Rivera, notified districts expressing the need to move forward with planned instruction.  Planned instruction is defined as formal teaching and learning similar to that which occurs in a classroom setting.  Within this process, teachers use planned courses of instruction of new concepts/skills aligned to grade level standards.  Teachers assess the learning of their students and make adjustments to instruction based upon student progress.  In order to receive credit, students must participate regularly and complete the online course requirements.

To assist with the implementation of planned instruction, the state offered districts the use of the following online platforms:  Odysseyware Spark (grades K-2), Odysseyware (grades 3-6) and Edgenuity (grades 7-12).  The Williams Valley School District has taken advantage of this opportunity and teachers are in the process of organizing and preparing for the launch of engaging and relevant instruction for students.  In addition, Google Classroom will also be used in some of the classrooms.  Teachers are currently being trained on the online platforms and the currently used enrichment and review will evolve to planned instruction by May 1, 2020.  This will include the introduction of new grade level/content area standards.  Until this time, enrichment and review activities will continue to be posted on Google Drive or available as paper packets.

Parents and students will be receiving multiple communications to ease the transition to this mandatory learning experience.  This includes passwords to the online platforms from the technology director, guidance from principals, and specific directions and instruction from teachers.

Attendance will be recorded and parents will receive the WVSD Online Learning Student Handbook at the beginning of next week which will answer specific questions.  If you need assistance with technology or a device to access this new planned instruction, please reach out to the WVSD Tech Support Department at or call 717-647-2167x1400 and leave a message.  Students in grades 7-12 should be sure to check their email and their own STUDENT Skyward account for messages and communications from teachers.

Your patience and flexibility are appreciated as we establish a positive learning experience for all, especially the students!
