Stadium Lighting Project Community Update

The Williams Valley School Board and Administration would like to thank our students, families, alumni, businesses, community organizations, and residents for the incredible support shown for the "Keep the Lights BRIGHT Between the Pines" campaign.
 
Since launching this initiative, we have been humbled by the number of individuals and organizations that have stepped forward to organize raffles, fundraising events, business partnerships, bake sales, and countless other efforts to support our students. This level of community ownership is truly inspiring, and we are sincerely grateful for every contribution, no matter the size.
 
We understand that there is significant interest in the status of the project and what comes next.
Since the stadium lighting was removed following a routine inspection that identified deteriorated poles and safety concerns, the Board of School Directors and district administration have been actively evaluating multiple options to restore lighting while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.
Those discussions have included:
  • Complete replacement of the stadium lighting system.
  • Temporary and long-term construction alternatives.
  • Community proposals that include donated labor and materials.
  • Potential grant and state funding opportunities.
  • Community fundraising and private donations.
Because several community members and local contractors have expressed interest in contributing labor and materials, the district is currently awaiting additional information from the contractor who prepared our original Request for Proposal. Their professional review will help determine whether these community-supported concepts are feasible, safe, code-compliant, and financially responsible before any final decisions are made.
 
The Board believes it is important to carefully evaluate every viable option before committing a course of action.  
To improve communication throughout this process, the district's campaign webpage will continue to serve as the primary source for project updates. Fundraising totals will be updated on the webpage as we receive donations and deposit money to the dedicated account so everyone can see the tremendous progress being made.
 
The support shown by our community has been extraordinary. Every fundraiser, every donation, every volunteer, and every conversation demonstrate the pride our community has in Williams Valley and our students.
We remain committed to working collaboratively with our community and will continue to share updates as additional information becomes available.
